Today is your day Boomer! And today may be the day you get scammed by someone trying to take your money! A friend of mine recently sent me this fraud info article from the Bank of Montreal, a credible source. So, anything quoted here is directly from BMO. Does this sound familiar? A text, e-mail, social media ad or even a phone call wanting something from you: your personal info and/or money? Here are four common scams: (1)Bank impersonation scams--How to help protect yourself: Hang up or don’t click or reply, then call your bank using the number on the back of your bank card. (2)Tech support scams--How to help protect yourself: Hang up. Legitimate tech support providers will not call, text, or email you unless you reach out to them first. (3)Grandparent scams--How to help protect yourself: Hang up and try to contact that family member through a trusted number, or contact another close relative to check in. (4)Investment scams--How to help protect yourself: Remember, if it seems too good to be true, don’t invest. Good advice from a trusted source and remember: Boomers and seniors, in general, are considered easy targets. Cheers!
Today is your day Boomer! And today is another day for wining......and I don't mean complaining. I mean drinking some pressed grapes and enjoying the health benefits. That's right, drinking alcohol is good for you. First, let's state the obvious....only in moderate amounts: two glasses per day for men and one for women. Research shows the following positive health effects: (1) reduces risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson disease (2) is an anti-flammatory(white wine is better for this) (3) decreases risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol(red wine is a better choice) (4) good for mental health, may increase age longevity, may promote healthy gut bacteria. All of this sounds good and much of it boils down to the antioxidants which are higher in red wine. It seems reds--like Merlot, Cab Sav, and Shiraz--have been studied more.....which means more research is needed on whites. Boomers, maybe we could volunteer for a new study! Cheers!
