Today is your day Boomer! Some Boomers like part-time jobs....and I think we would all like a job that isn't too tough, and pays well! Well....how about a "caddie" job for a professional golfer? Check out the picture and realize a guy named Ted made about 1.7 million dollars for caddying with the top male golfer in the world(some guy named Scottie) in the past 10 events. What does a caddy do? Basically....carries the clubs, gives some sage advice, and gets a nice tan....four days a week. Bingo! Usually that means about 7% of the golfer's earnings go to the caddy! Sounds good right? You get to travel the world with your friend, stay in fancy places, walk the best courses out there(like Augusta!), see your player make history(live and close up!), and only break a small sweat. Sign me up....what a great job for many Boomers, like me, who love the game of golf and all things associated with it!! Cheers.

Today is your day Boomer! Has this restaurant chain lost its mind? Boston Pizza, in Penticton BC, has changed messages on its big sign in the past few days....I guess, to get more business and cash! In the playoffs' first round, they show "Oilers" support and now they have switched to "Canucks", possibly due to pressure from a local online petition. One of the comments called for a restaurant boycott: "You’re on BC soil, that’s a slap in the face to have that up when we are playing Edmonton. Do the right thing and take it down.”(Penticton Herald) And I say he is right! A BC restaurant that is a so-called "sports bar" should support its local teams....and, by the way, this is not the first time Boston Pizza has been two-faced. During the 2011 Stanley Cup final between Boston and Vancouver, they actually switched their name to "Vancouver Pizza"! That was it, I was done going to their restaurant....and I haven't returned! Today is your day Boomer! Actually....yesterday was MY day! My beloved Bruins ousted Toronto in game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs and I celebrated with much emotion. Not only did my team win, we took out the hated Maple Leafs who have not won a cup since 1967. Boohoo. By the way, that is the year the Bruins team was given to me by my family. What? Yes, in those days there were only six NHL teams and there six members in my family...that watched hockey every Saturday night on CBC. Since I was the youngest, I got the worst team-Boston. Then Bobby Orr came along, the Bruins won the cup three years later and the rest is history....my hockey history, because if you know me well, you know I am very loyal to my teams, my teams in Boston(in all sports!)and my teams in Summerland where my kids played. I'm sure many Boomers are the same way, long-time loyalty is hard to give up, and really it is all about PASSION! It is who I am...

Today is your day Boomer! We Boomers eat a lot of fruits and veggies....hoping they are good for us and will help stay healthy and live longer. Generally, research supports this idea...but some fruits, like bananas, have had a questionable reputation. So...let's set the record straight. According to Okanagan Naturopath Doug Lobay, "as one banana contains less than 100 calories and less than one gram of fat, they do not make you fat. Bananas are a healthy snack and are included in the main course in many tropical countries." He adds "they also includes 2.6 grams of fibre, 12 grams of sugars and no cholesterol. It is a myth perpetuated by some in the nutritional industry that bananas are extremely high in potassium. They contain average amounts of potassium compared to other fruits and vegetables." As for health benefits, they can help you lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes, improve insulin sensitivity in Type 2 diabetics, aid i
