Today is your day Boomer! As we look forward to golf season, what will be new and in style this year Boomers? One simple word describes it: swag. Yup, that's right....we need to bring our own unique personality into the experience! According to journalist Cam Means of pga.com, our swag is one of three top golf trends for 2026. Look at this picture and understand something as simple as a headcover symbolizes who we are. It is meant to describe someone with a confident demeanor, fashionable look, or "cool" attitude.....and it can be anything you bring to the course: a colourful sweater, personalized ball, golf bag, or towel. What else? Lots of new technology "from technical push carts featuring a screen to record scores and stats, to immersive simulators boasting lifelike screen resolution", and high-tech radar devices for the driving range: rev up your batteries Boomers. Lastly, golf club grips are hot with the importance of a consistent grip on the golf club. We should see at least a dozen new-style grips and training aids in your local pro shop. Be ready Boomers; and by the way, February is a good physical, get-prepared training month. Cheers!
Today is your day Boomer! And today is another day for wining......and I don't mean complaining. I mean drinking some pressed grapes and enjoying the health benefits. That's right, drinking alcohol is good for you. First, let's state the obvious....only in moderate amounts: two glasses per day for men and one for women. Research shows the following positive health effects: (1) reduces risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson disease (2) is an anti-flammatory(white wine is better for this) (3) decreases risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol(red wine is a better choice) (4) good for mental health, may increase age longevity, may promote healthy gut bacteria. All of this sounds good and much of it boils down to the antioxidants which are higher in red wine. It seems reds--like Merlot, Cab Sav, and Shiraz--have been studied more.....which means more research is needed on whites. Boomers, maybe we could volunteer for a new study! Cheers!
