Today is your day Boomer! Here it is...come and get it, whether you like it or not, I AM BACK! The B.C. Blog Boomer took a sabbatical from writing and is now refreshed and ready to go...ready for topics of value to Baby Boomers, aged 62-80, as of 2026. Topics like travel, exercise, retirement, food, health, music, sports, games, books and life in general. Boomers, we are getting older....but do we feel old? I think not! This blog, I hope, will encourage you to make the most of every day. Take me, for example: today includes news and sports reading, a historical novel read, hot tub, writing a blog, two hours of vigorous pickleball, 3 hours of high school basketball refereeing and bridge in the evening! That's a very full slate, and boy, will I feel good and tired at the end of the day. Sleeping will not be a problem, and neither will boredom! Do it Boomers....don't waste away your day on social media and napping; get out there and LIVE! Cheers to us!!
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...
