Today is your day Boomer! And up early am I like many people to watch the ceremonies surrounding the inaugeration of new US President Joe Biden today. I will remain mostly non-political in my views because that is not the purpose of this blog. But the picture of the Statue of Liberty reminds me that the "rebuilding" of America begins today. The last four years is finished and hopefully a new era of peace, unity, and prosperity will follow. I say this because America is our best friend, our closest ally, and the nation that we most identify with. It is, by far, our biggest trade partner and cultural influencer. It is also the place Boomers love to travel and live, especially in the winter months. As Boomers, we long for the end of COVID and the ability to cross the border again.......to indulge in warmer climates, low-priced shopping, American concerts and sporting events, cruises, Reno and Vegas, and Disneyland! We love the low price of gas for our big RVs, the lack of state tax while camping in Oregon, the big blue waves of the Pacific beaches, the huge trees in Northern California, and the endless pickleball, tennis, and golf in Arizona.
Good luck, America! We miss your friendly attitude and hope to see you soon. Cheers!
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...

Sorry, wrong spelling of inauguration.....I will attempt to do better!
