Today is your day Boomer! Actually, Sunday is your big day and the same can be said for about half of all Canadians.......it is Superbowl time! 3:30 game time, Tampa Bay vs Kansas City, Brady against Mahomes, winner take all! What a great game! But what if you are not a football fan and have always avoided this annual ritual? Well, I say give it a try. The game itself may not have meaning to you, but the entertainment value is still there. Two reasons: the incredible new, often-funny commercials and the half-time show. The commercials are worth your while themselves....but the half-way concert always features big stars like Springsteen or Jennifer Lopez! This year is cool because it is a Canadian R&B performer The Weekend. Throw-in some great food and cold beverages and you have four hours of fun during a bummer pandemic time. Want company besides your live-in family? Turn on your computer beside your couch and virtual call your friends.....make it a group call and share laughs the same way as in-person! Why not? We, Boomers, love to entertain, we love to have fun and we like to try new things. Go Bucs! Cheers!
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...
