Today is your day Boomer! It doesn't look like a very exciting picture.....my truck on a gravel road beside some trees. But it actually looked, in person, a whole lot better! Boomers, the concept is what many of you experienced as kids: the Sunday drive. You did it with your parents and maybe it was boring at times, but now you get a chance to do it again! This time, I recommend you hit the back roads and experience autumn in full colour! It is incredible right now as the trees of southern BC succumb to the coming of winter and slowly spread their colour-filled wings. Also, many of you drive SUVs with all-wheel drive or you have 4X4 trucks like me that you use to pull trailers and boats. Use that feature; most of you can afford the gas and the bumpy ride will be much smoother and safer. You will also encounter scenic high-elevation views, animals in their natural habitat, and you can bring along your dog for a walk. It could also lead to an active hike or mountain bike and a possible picnic with maybe a touch of wine. The possibilities are endless. Don't forget your old-fashioned paper map or a good software map program and get out there Boomers!
Something old is new again. Cheers!
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...
