Today is your day Boomer! Okay Beatles lovers....another show for you to watch! I am only 1/3 of the way through the three part documentary "Get Back" but I am already strongly recommending it. It is based on video taken from 2 weeks in early 1969 when John, Paul, George, and Ringo gathered in a small studio and recorded 14 songs for their last album. This record would feature tremendous hits like "Let It Be", "The Long and Winding Road", and of course, "Get Back". But talk about pressure; four talented musicians in one room, all day, every day, working together, bickering, eating, drinking, smoking, and trying to create hit songs out of nothing. Without giving too much away, you will notice things like Paul's creativity, John's sense of humour, George's tremendous skill, and Ringo's silence. Other things to watch for are the role of two wives, Yoko and Linda, the constant irritating smoking, the live performance(hint: rooftop!), and the influence of the entourage around them. For me.....the coolest aspect is how they created songs....the process, the experimentation, and the best example of this is "Get Back"! For you Boomers, the biggest problem is how to access it. I know it is on the Disney Channel, not Netflix, and I know it can be bought on Amazon. You can also see the trailer and video teasers on YouTube. In total, three 2 and 1/2 hour segments....go for it!!! Boomers, who doesn't love The Beatles? Cheers!
