Today is your day Boomer! And with this picture, I present to you the LAST image of winter! The cold, snowy, icy, frosty days are now over and the first day of spring officially arrives today! It means blossoms, robins, flowers, sunshine, warmer temperatures, and more active Boomers! The only slightly-bad news is that experts like The Weather Network are predicting a cooler-than-normal spring with many fluctuations in temperatures and precipitation.....a slightly unpredictable spring they say. Oh well, I will take it. Another long COVID winter is finally finished and we can get outside and inside with people and without masks. I like it! And the optimism is not only based on the climate change, but the overall "feeling" you get....the more-positive attitude, less depression, and sense of renewal. And if we don't think too much about things like the Ukraine war, we can move forward into an awesome time of year. Boomers, great for the usual hiking and walks....but now add in activities like biking, tennis, pickleball, golf, and gardening. Cheers!
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...
