Today is your day Boomer! There is gold in your car! Yes, Boomers, it is called "gas" and ever since the price hit 2 dollars per litre last week, it is the new target of thieves. Dumb idiot thieves are stealing gas from vehicles late at night, but also wrecking cars! How? Their method is not to siphon petrol through a hose, but they actually go under your car and drill holes in your gas tank and let the liquid flow out into containers. It ruins your tank, is very dangerous, makes your vehicle undriveable, and costs hundreds of dollars for repairs! What can you do? "Parking in a secured, well-lit area, such as a garage or fenced enclosure can be helpful for theft prevention,” said Cpl. Dana Napier of the Kamloops RCMP’s community policing unit. “If you must park on the street, avoid dark and isolated areas. The more visible your vehicle, the better.” Also, I will add this: have less gas in your tank for the taking, get a locking gas cap, and park your vehicles as close to your house as possible with outside lights left on. Or, Boomers, how about a GUARD DOG?????!!!!!! What will these thieves think of next? Cheers.
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...
