Today is your day Boomer! I don't know his age, but from this picture it looks like Jay Carter might be a Boomer. But even if he isn't, he is a big inspiration for our generation! Jay, from Fernie, B.C., has skiied every single day in the local Alpine Ski Resort this season! That's every single day.....well over 100 times, and his plan is to continue right through the last day on April 17th. Wow, that is amazing! Carter says the season has been great so far, but that comes from his grateful attitude towards any skiing at all. “How do you complain about skiing, it’s the greatest thing in the world.” Asked whether skiing every day of every season would become a regular ‘thing’, Carter says “it remains to be seen.” “Next week I am going to sleep in.” Jay missed his ski time alot during the pandemic and wants to make the most of his winter days. And Boomers, that is what this blog is all about! Think of the benefits: regular exercise, fresh air, getting out into nature, and time well spent with friends.....every day! Cheers Jay!
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...
