Today is your day Boomer! I don't know about you, but people all around me are getting COVID. And I guess because most are experiencing relatively-mild symptoms, they are not too concerned. For example, most people are not wearing masks anymore...in all types of situations, indoors and outside. And even if they do get the virus, they take the at-home test, self isolate for awhile, and they are done. So, how bad is it in Canada? A recent poll indicates almost one in four has had COVID! And "the more social you are — going out to restaurants, bars, and concerts — makes you a little bit more vulnerable to getting the disease. Vaccination status also played a role, with 38 per cent of unvaccinated respondents saying they had been infected compared to 20 per cent of their vaccinated counterparts". For many of us, it seems like a non-issue now....almost like "if we ignore it, it will go away completely" attitude. Good luck.....hospitalizations are going up and Boomers, let's not forget that COVID is more dangerous for older people who have pre-existing medical conditions....like us! I, for one, am still being very careful....wearing a mask, keeping my distance, and washing my hands. Stay vigilant, I say. Cheers.
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...
