Today is your day Boomer! I guess the writing is on the wall Boomers....we need to make the transition to hybrid or electric vehicles very soon! 2035 seems to be the popular global target date as the EU and California have recently announced laws coming that state any "new" cars sold by 2035 must not be gasoline only. Even though environmental organizations like Greenpeace want 2028 as the date, the transition will definitely have to be gradual and, of course, cannot apply to used vehicles already on the road. Why is this so important? Check out the picture of rush hour in California and read this info blurb on the #1 contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in America: "Transportation (27% of 2020 greenhouse gas emissions) – The transportation sector generates the largest share of greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gas emissions from transportation primarily come from burning fossil fuel for our cars, trucks, ships, trains, and planes. Over 90% of the fuel used for transportation is petroleum based, which includes primarily gasoline and diesel." Burning fossil fuels for electricity and industry are close in second and third place. Now, if we can just get China on board in this global movement....the #1 polluter, we will make some significant progress. In the meantime Boomers, start planning and saving your nickels and dimes for a new electric or hybrid car! Cheers.
Today is your day Boomer! And today is another day for wining......and I don't mean complaining. I mean drinking some pressed grapes and enjoying the health benefits. That's right, drinking alcohol is good for you. First, let's state the obvious....only in moderate amounts: two glasses per day for men and one for women. Research shows the following positive health effects: (1) reduces risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson disease (2) is an anti-flammatory(white wine is better for this) (3) decreases risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol(red wine is a better choice) (4) good for mental health, may increase age longevity, may promote healthy gut bacteria. All of this sounds good and much of it boils down to the antioxidants which are higher in red wine. It seems reds--like Merlot, Cab Sav, and Shiraz--have been studied more.....which means more research is needed on whites. Boomers, maybe we could volunteer for a new study! Cheers!
