Today us your day Boomer! What travel ideas are on your bucket list Boomers? A recent survey, based on internet searches, revealed some interesting destinations for Canadian boomers. In no particular order, here they are: Visit each continent in the world–See the Northern Lights–Go on a hot air balloon–See the Great Barrier Reef–Visit the Pyramids–Visit Niagara Falls-Experience the Rocky Mountaineer train ride. So, which is number one? Based on my picture, you probably think the train ride between Banff and Vancouver. Well, actually that is #2. By far, the most-anticipated travel trip is Niagara Falls in Ontario! According to the Toronto Sun, "it's an all-season spectacle – gorgeous in the spring, spectacular in the summer, awe-inspiring in the autumn and mind-boggling beautiful in the winter, when cascading walls of water are frozen in a dizzying array of natural ice sculptures. It appears that there is a season for everyone at this iconic Canadian landmark." Boomers...whatever you do, wherever you go, it's an exciting time of life! Hopefully you can afford it. Oh, one more thing the survey found: Canadian boomers love to immerse themselves in history and culture. Go for it....cheers!
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...
