Today is your day Boomer! This is not a personal issue for me.....I am six feet tall, but I guess it is for some men. Short men, that is. A new clinic in Montreal can break both your legs, and do corrective surgery to increase your height by 3 inches. Then there is extensive physiotheraphy for many months, including a lengthy time on crutches. The two main reasons men do this? (1)better dating potential (2)increased job prospects. But the real reason is self-body image and confidence according to this man: "a lot of these people who want to get this procedure done will refrain from even going to social events. They won’t go to their holiday parties or they won’t go to weddings. There was one guy who told me he didn’t go to his best friend’s wedding because of his height." This man is Victor Egonu, who had the surgery done himself, and has interviewed over 1500 similar patients! Wow, that is quite the demand! By the way the surgery costs up to $100,000 and then add in more money for physio, new pants etc. Then I researched another way of gaining height for about 100 bucks. Various companies offer shoes and runners that will provide from 2-6 inches of more height. And honestly, when you look at them, the shoes seem normal....unlike very high heels that some women wear. Boomers, apparently this surgery is mostly for younger men. But my choice would be the shoes. Cheers.
Today is your day Boomer! And today is another day for wining......and I don't mean complaining. I mean drinking some pressed grapes and enjoying the health benefits. That's right, drinking alcohol is good for you. First, let's state the obvious....only in moderate amounts: two glasses per day for men and one for women. Research shows the following positive health effects: (1) reduces risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson disease (2) is an anti-flammatory(white wine is better for this) (3) decreases risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol(red wine is a better choice) (4) good for mental health, may increase age longevity, may promote healthy gut bacteria. All of this sounds good and much of it boils down to the antioxidants which are higher in red wine. It seems reds--like Merlot, Cab Sav, and Shiraz--have been studied more.....which means more research is needed on whites. Boomers, maybe we could volunteer for a new study! Cheers!
