Today is your day Boomer! Or maybe tonight is.....look up Boomers, into that star-filled sky for a little entertainment. Instead of old Netflix movies or binge watching "Emily in Paris" tv shows, your eyes can see something real and fascinating. Last night, it was Jupiter and Venus together in big, bold colour as it looked like the two planets were ready to collide. A few days ago, it was the Northern Lights engulfing BC's Okanagan Valley with tremendous views like this picture taken in Osoyoos! By the way, what is the origin of the green light? According to the Northern Lights Centre, the bright dancing lights of the aurora are actually collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth’s atmosphere. The lights are seen above the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemispheres. They are known as ‘Aurora Borealis’ in the north and ‘Aurora australis’ in the south. The Northern Lights are actually the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth’s atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun’s atmosphere. Variations in colour are due to the type of gas particles that are colliding. What is next in the sky Boomers? Who knows, maybe some Chinese spy balloons being shot down?! Cheers.
