Today is your day Boomer! Yesterday's blog had a focus on "class b" camper vans and van life. And one of the big takeaways was the BIG price of vehicles like Roadtreks....well over 60,000$, even for a used 2005 model. How about a cheaper alternative Boomers? There are vans out there, like Dodge Grand Caravans, that sell for under $20,000 with under 100,000km. These vans have stowaway seats which feature 2nd and 3rd row seats that fold into the van floor, creating a big, flat back surface....perfect for camping! Now, some innovative, handy DIYers will create their own multi-use spaces in the vans, but others will just buy pre-made kits(see picture!). I researched a few of these companies, including Vanpackers out of Quebec, and they do special conversions kits for regular vans, cargo vans, SUVs, and special kitchen kits. And they look sharp and are very functional. Here are some of their features: Installation in 5 minutes without drilling....Excellent stability when moving for increased safety....Storage space and height optimized for comfort....Use as a twin bed, double bed or living room, depending on your preference....High density mattress with washable covers....Table with interior support (3 positions)....Large storage volumes and functional kitchen without manipulation....Clear rear view when driving and stationary. And the price? Just a few hundred dollars. A camping option Boomers at a good price; something to consider. Cheers!
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...
