Today is your day Boomer! Sorry, I took a few blog days off for the Easter weekend....but here is some new food, er...music for thought. Boomers, how often do we only listen to "greatest hits" songs from our favourite artists like The Beatles, Elton John, and Dire Straits? What about the so-called "B" sides of some of their greatest hits.....the weaker, less-listened to, sometimes-forgotten songs of our favourite bands?? A few come to mind; look at this album cover from Dr.Hook in 1974 and remember the funky, crazy song called "Freakin' at the Freaker's Ball". Listen to the lyrics; they are hysterical! What about "Why don't we do it in the road?" by The Beatles on the famous White Album? Try that one....simple lyrics with quite a message! And then there is this song: "Sway": From the Rolling Stones' album "Sticky Fingers," this bluesy rocker boasts a powerful rhythm section and Keith Richards' renowned guitar riffs. Despite its iconic chorus and enticing melodies, it's not as well known as the album's other tracks.(Quora.com) This is music from albums we may have forgotten over time. Boomers, is it time to look back some more and revisit some old 60's and 70's music?!! Try....Cheers!
Today is your day Boomer! Relaxing in my hot tub this morning, I had reflections of the 1970 CCR song "Lookin' out my Back Door". Yes, that kind of druggy, but catchy song, about the view of your backyard. Mine is spectacular: colourful sunrises, big ponderosa pines, cheer, apple, fir, and weeping willow trees, two mountains, sheep and chickens next door, two frolicking golden retrievers, beautiful green grass and what seems like a thousand birds...including quail, pheasant, chickadees, woodpeckers, and blue jays. And what else? Well....the quiet, the solitude, and the chance for reflection with no sirens, car noise, yelling people, or neighbours invading your privacy. It was...is...just beautiful, and I am so blessed to live in a rural area in BC's Okanagan Valley. Boomers, what's out your back door? John Fogerty's "tangerines and elephants" or something like my cheeries and coyotes? Check it out and appreciate the little things in life. Cheers...
