Today is your day Boomer! On the day after another assassination attempt on Donald Trump, do you care if so-called "celebrities" are endorsing their favourite presidential candidate? I guess these people believe their across-America influence is so great that they can help shape voters' minds. Or, are they just passionately-political people who want to get involved somehow? We know singer Taylor Swift came out in favour of Kamela Harris right after the recent debate and she is, perhaps, the most influential global superstar to get directly involved. If not getting votes for Harris, she certainly has inspired people to sign-up as new voters....almost 400,000 at last count, and Swift's endorsement will certainly get more young women to the polls this fall. What about other famous faces? Harris: George Clooney, Robert De Niro, Charli XCX, Olivia Rodrigo, and Matt Damon. Trump: Elon Musk, Hulk Hogan, Dana White, Dave Portnoy, and Kid Rock. My take is....you would think there would be more!? America is filled with celebrities, but many remain silent in the face of a huge global-changing election! Just think about what these leaders want to do with important issues like climate change, the war in Ukraine, the Gaza conflict, abortion, and gun control. Boomers, do you vote based on a star's endorsement? Something to consider as we head toward a national election here in Canada next year. Cheers...

Today is your day Boomer! My Dad left this world this week. I was there in-person to say goodbye and, of course, it was very, very difficult. But rather than focusing on the negatives of his downfall, I want to share with you my Dad's many contributions to my life. First off, Harold (Hal) shared his name with me and helped raise me as one of six kids in our family. Imagine the financial impact a family of eight had on his work life and mental state! Speaking of that, he taught me the importance of a strong work ethic and a good education. All his kids have university degrees or trades tickets. Today is your day Boomer! Some people just don't get excited about NHL hockey anymore....they have excuses like the continued existance of legal fighting, their team never wins, and how do you get pumped-up by "a bunch of millionaires" chasing a small, black,rubber puck?! I do though. Yesterday was " Hockey Day in Canada" as all Canadian teams took to the ice, including Montreal which played my all-time fav Boston! And it was quite the night in my household; we hosted a special hockey night viewing, dinner, and games with a friend couple(one of which is an ardent Habs' fan!) and the emotion and entertainment was special....at least for me. My Bruins won in a cakewalk 9-4....but there was no cake for dessert, just chocolate/peanut butter squares! Great company and a great game. Here's to the tradition of old-time hockey Boomers! May the memory of Bobby Orr, Maurice Richard, Dave Keon, and Wayne Gretzky never die! And cheers to HNIC.

Today is your day Boomer! My Mom's birthday is today....she would have been 94, but passed away from cancer 30 years ago. I miss her so much, and here are some things I remember most about her:(1)her always-loving personality and passion in raising six kids (2)her patience as I clutched her leg constantly as a little boy (3)her hugs even when I got into trouble (4)her mixing-up her four sons on telephone calls (5)her incredible love of babies, including grandchildren (6)her dedication to huge, productive gardens (6)her "always-open" invitation to family at her summer cabin (7)the tremendous aroma of her weekly baking sessions (7)her long, slender swimming strokes-she was a competitive long-distance athlete (8)her devotion and love of pets(like Cody!)
