Today is your day Boomer! And...it is a day for decision-making for Boomer British Columbians. After a month-long campaign, Elections BC is ready for your attendance at one of many polling stations across the province. But should you vote? OF COURSE! This from a former social studies teacher and current politician, and one who is proud to say "I have voted in every election possible since I turned 18." Boomers, it is your "civic duty"....just like paying taxes and doing jury duty. And our age group votes with the highest possible percentage (75%) with youth being the lowest at 47% in the 2021 federal election. So, we need to tell the politicians what we think is important for BC's future, be a good role model for younger voters, and encourage them to participate. Our country is built on democratic values and so much can change with just ONE election result! Imagine Trump winning the US presidency again???? Ahhhhh!! These people make major decisions on our health care, schools, bridges, forests, and child care. Please elect responsible, dedicated, passionate citizens anytime from 8am till 8pm today and bring proper identification: "a BC Driver’s License, BC Identification Card, BC Services Card or Certificate of Indian Status, or two pieces of ID that both show your name and at least one that shows your current address. You can use your Where to Vote card as one of two pieces of ID."(Elections BC) By the way, make it an "informed" vote...even if you have to do some last minute reading. Good luck Boomers; I hope your choice wins!
Today is your day Boomer! My Dad left this world this week. I was there in-person to say goodbye and, of course, it was very, very difficult. But rather than focusing on the negatives of his downfall, I want to share with you my Dad's many contributions to my life. First off, Harold (Hal) shared his name with me and helped raise me as one of six kids in our family. Imagine the financial impact a family of eight had on his work life and mental state! Speaking of that, he taught me the importance of a strong work ethic and a good education. All his kids have university degrees or trades tickets. He showed me the supreme importance of family gatherings, how to flyfish...even when he was colour blind....how to use tools, play high-level bridge, eat organic foods, he taught me how to drive....even though I ruined the transmission on our old car....he showed me how to sail, save and invest money, have an appreciation for nature, he was a role model for me as I moved through heart/s
