Today is your day Boomer! He is probably the most famous Baby Boomer in the world right now....he is also Time Magazine's Man of the Year, he seems to be governing the United States before he is even sworn in as president, and now he is taking a joke too far! Of course, he is Donald Trump, the "president-elect" of the good ol' US of A...and I have one simple thing to say to him: STOP IT! Stop calling Canada the "51st state" of America and stop calling our prime minister "governor"...which, if you didn't know, is the official leader of a U.S. state like California. His joke at a party in Florida, with Trudeau at the same dinner table, was likely funny...I guess. But now Trump has kept it up with three more insulting references, including a big social media post yesterday: "Many Canadians want Canada to become the 51st State. They would save massively on taxes and military protection. I think it is a great idea. 51st State!!!"(CTVnews.ca) Dumbo Donald, remember who your friends are. Remember our strong trade relationship, remember the many alliances we share, remember to respect our history. Cut it out....the joke is done. BACK OFF BOOMER!
Today is your day Boomer! And today is another day for wining......and I don't mean complaining. I mean drinking some pressed grapes and enjoying the health benefits. That's right, drinking alcohol is good for you. First, let's state the obvious....only in moderate amounts: two glasses per day for men and one for women. Research shows the following positive health effects: (1) reduces risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson disease (2) is an anti-flammatory(white wine is better for this) (3) decreases risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol(red wine is a better choice) (4) good for mental health, may increase age longevity, may promote healthy gut bacteria. All of this sounds good and much of it boils down to the antioxidants which are higher in red wine. It seems reds--like Merlot, Cab Sav, and Shiraz--have been studied more.....which means more research is needed on whites. Boomers, maybe we could volunteer for a new study! Cheers!
