Today is your day Boomer! I say to Pierre Poilievre....call it what it really is! That's right: don't call your plan for the CBC a "defund"....it is simply a huge CUT! The Conservative leader says he wants to save a billion dollars per year from the 1.4 billion government subsidy to the Canadian media giant. The problem is....he's forgetting a few important things: the CBC is very "Canadian" like hockey and poutine. It has been promoting Canadian art, culture and our performers for 90 years and is simply this: "We're talking about the very existence of the CBC; for many people, it’s as Canadian as maple syrup and as the beaver. It's fundamental to our identity."(Sarah Andrews-Friends of Canadian Media) Just ask Boomer musicians like Gordon Lightfoot and Anne Murray. Where did they get their start....their first chance in the music biz? CBC!! Boomers, do you access news and sports on CBC, do you listen to Cross Country Checkup on Sundays, do you want continued access to homegrown talent? I do. So, Pierre....do this for Canada. Don't "defund" and don't be a dummy!
Today is your day Boomer! And today is another day for wining......and I don't mean complaining. I mean drinking some pressed grapes and enjoying the health benefits. That's right, drinking alcohol is good for you. First, let's state the obvious....only in moderate amounts: two glasses per day for men and one for women. Research shows the following positive health effects: (1) reduces risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson disease (2) is an anti-flammatory(white wine is better for this) (3) decreases risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol(red wine is a better choice) (4) good for mental health, may increase age longevity, may promote healthy gut bacteria. All of this sounds good and much of it boils down to the antioxidants which are higher in red wine. It seems reds--like Merlot, Cab Sav, and Shiraz--have been studied more.....which means more research is needed on whites. Boomers, maybe we could volunteer for a new study! Cheers!
